Well, I guess the fact is that he learned that from WoW and he wouldn't have had the sense to do what he did if it wasn't for the game, thus could have resulted in either him, or his sister, or both of them being dead.

When the beast went on the offensive, Derek knew the first thing he had to do was "Throw up the W" so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. Throwing up the W is a move one uses in Westside to get monsters to throw up the "E" and start a shoot out where everyone but the intended victim gets hurt.

Once he was a target, Derek remember another skill he’d picked while walking through the Imperial Gardens Projects "Hit the Deck" and watched hot rocks fly. The "Gangsta" lost interest in the Derek after he emptied his clip and wandered off into the projects. When he was safely alone Derek ran back home to share his tale of ghetto inspired survival.

Make fun of the ghetto all you want, but if one can teach you a skill that saves your (and your sister’s) life, then we’d say that was a place worth growing up in.
